Giving the Lord our BEST performance and our HIGHEST praise!
“So then…whatever you may do, do all for the honor and glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31, AMP
EDCS Music and Worship Arts Department aims to expose students to the visual and performing arts as they pertain to performance, recreation, and most of all, worship. God, as creator, set a precedent for artistic expression through His creative and skillful construction of the world and its inhabitants. God’s Word is filled with demonstrations of singing, dancing, instrumental music, drama and displays of visual arts. We view these examples as the foundation and framework for artistic instruction and expression at EDCS.
“Psalm 4:3 (NASB) says, ‘Know that the Lord has set apart the godly man for Himself.’ In a similar way, the Lord has set apart the godly artist for Himself. Godly artists have been set apart with a special gift or a unique talent, set apart to experience intimacy with God, set apart to be used by God in so many meaningful ways. I believe that God wants to raise artists in the church [body of Christ] who are set apart for Him. They’re not different in a strange way, like so many artists in the world. They’re different because they’re artists with godly character.” -Rory Nowland, The Heart of the Artist.
EDCS Music and Worship Arts Students are trained to use their gifts skillfully and pursue excellence to the glory of God.
All K-8 students participate in music and art classes. Extra-curricular opportunities and elective classes are available for students in grades 4-12.
