EDCS Creative Writing Club
The EDCS Creative Writing Club meets every Friday after school. It lets like-minded students gather together and encourages students to strengthen their God given abilities and use the arts of fiction and poetry for the glory of God. The EDCS Creative Writing Club is led by Mr. DeVore.
EDCS Debate Club
The EDCS Debate Club meets every Wednesday after school. It focuses on following the principle from 1 Peter 3:13-17 of always being ready to make a defense for our hope and our faith. Students learn about the concepts and techniques of rhetoric and practice a variety of debate styles and topics, including team debates, one-on-one debates, and blitz-style arguing. Currently, the Debate Club is open to 7th-12th grade, so it does not compete with other high schools in debate competitions. The EDCS Debate Club is led by Mr. Baumgartner.
EDCS On-Guard meets in the evenings on Mondays and Wednesdays and focuses on discipline. It is less of a club and more of a strict regimen of behavior and physical conditioning, teaching students to adopt the mindset of a Christian warrior through a variety of Martial Arts and sword-fighting techniques. Students are put through a rigorous system of exercise, self-defense training, and dueling using practice weapons, following the model of a soldier assigned to constant vigilance in the fight against sin and darkness.
